At Old Dominion University, safety is a top priority. We are always working vigilantly to ensure that the Monarch community has access to services and resources the promote a safe campus environment.
- Safety Cameras - We've installed 1,700+ state-of-the-art safety cameras all over campus, which help to deter crime.
- Safety Screens - Safety screens have been installed on all first-floor windows of campus residential buidings
- Lighting & Landscaping - We have installed new lighting and made strategic landscaping updates to enhance campus security
- Pedestrian Safety - Safety beacons and speed limit readouts, both proven to increase pedestrian safety, have been installed on strategic streets and crosswalks.
ODU is committed to fire prevention- using safety education, training initiatives, and proactive polices to keep campus smoke-free and safe.

SAFE RIDE provides a safe and secure alternative to walking around campus at night.
